"YOUR GOOD SELF"
Born in Belfast, now based in East Antrim. In the country and by the sea.
"Your good self" is Stephen's third album.
“Your Good Self” is a new collection of original songs, all written
recorded and mixed by Stephen. He approaches his audio
work like his illustrations, using washes and glazes of sounds,
especially rhythm and harmonies at a grass roots level. Home made.
Crafted in The Moon Shed.
Stephen’s early influences would have been anything he heard
on the radio like gospel, blues, Folk and Rock n’ Roll. The singers and performers
of the American Counter Culture were around just at the point he was starting
to use the guitar. That strong influence remains today.
Track 10. “Lorraine Lorraine”, is about the assassination of Martin Luther King in 1968.
“Wee Boat” is a Calypso. “Waho” is a fusion of Irish, Scottish and Native American
music. “James Connolly” is a song about loss, where as ”The Stag and the Deer” taps into
some of Stephen’s English folk influences. All in all Stephen uses Folk and Fusion to broaden
his musical direction.
