Smithwick's Brewery was founded in Kilkenny, Ireland, in 1710 by John Smithwick. It was established on the site of a Franciscan abbey where monks had brewed ale since the 14th century. The Smithwick family, despite facing religious restrictions and political challenges of the time, managed to establish and grow the brewery, passing it down through generations.
Smithwick's Red Ale is celebrated for its smooth, malty richness, complemented by a subtle hop bitterness. With notes of caramel and a slight fruity undertone, it's a beer that's both comforting and complex. It is known for its ruby red hue, derived from the use of roasted barley.
