Deborah Hill's 'Rise A5 Print' is an artistic homage to one of Belfast's most striking landmarks, the 'Rise' sculpture, also known as the Balls on the Falls! Situated at the Broadway Roundabout, this impressive public art piece was designed by Wolfgang Buttress and stands as Belfast's biggest public art sculpture at 30 meters wide and 37.5 meters tall. It was commissioned by the Belfast City Council as part of a multimillion-pound road improvement program and completed in 2011, after initial delays.
The sculpture is a symbolic representation of a new sun rising, heralding a new chapter in Belfast's history. Its two spherical, metal structures, with the inner sphere representing the rising sun and the outer sphere symbolising the sun's halo, are connected by straight bars in a geodesic design. This design is not only visually striking but also represents Belfast’s ongoing journey of unity and progress, especially considering its history of conflict and its location above the A12 Westlink, bridging unionist and nationalist communities.
Using vibrant colours and intricate details, Deborah brings this iconic piece of public art to life, making it an ideal addition to any art collection. Printed on high-quality paper, this print is a celebration of Belfast’s architectural brilliance and a reminder of the city's resilient spirit.
